Blessing or Curse – Blogging 101

YOU CAN RAISE THEM IN A CHURCH HOUSE OR YOU CAN RAISE THEM IN A WHOREHOUSE –  YOUR KIDS ARE GONNA TURN OUT THE WAY THEY CHOOSE (or are they?)

Anyone with children have little cyborgs running loose on this earth. We have to face the fact – they are part of us, good and bad. They may not be a clone per say, but you have to admit that most of them are a good replication. Now that’s pretty scary, as most of us are products of our environment.

Think about this…

Our morals, ethics, and behaviors were learned through the teachings, and actions of our parental figures as children (Monkey See, Monkey Do).  As teens we wanted to fit in and go with the flow, so we followed the crowd (The Blind Leading The Blind). You are then released into the world to go forward and produce mini people….AND THE CYCLE STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN!

Question: Has being a product of your environment been a blessing for you that will be passed on, or are you stuck in a generational curse?

  1. That is a great question. I believe if you can see the faults of your parents, you can correct them to a degree. But then, you will develop your own faults that your kids will react to. No matter what you do, you are going to screw-up your kids in some way–you know that is not the best way to say that. You will live in your kids is some way and to a lesser degree, so will your parents. But they are their own people and the best you do is your best and learn to like the people they become.

  2. Your post has really caught my attention today. From the wonderful quote in yellow regarding some people as blessings, some as lessons; to the comment about raising kids in a church house or a whorehouse; and the bigger question you are probing, everything just really resonates with me. I have been recalling some of my early life experiences for a post I am drafting and I guess the timing of me seeing this is more than coincidence. Although all of my earlier experiences no doubt affect the person I am today, the filter of time allows me to recall good memories and not too many bad ones. Thanks for the thought provoking post.
